BIOTRADE brush aerators are horizontal-shaft aerators designed to provide oxygenation and mixing of effluents in aeration basins.

Developed and manufactured in France, they are suitable for oblong or annular channels, offering a durable, efficient and cost-effective solution for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.

BIOTRADE brush aerators are available in two power ranges to meet all requirements:

  • PB700, from 3 to 11 kW, with a brush diameter of 700 mm.
  • PB1000, from 11 to 45 kW, with a brush diameter of 1,000 mm.

All power ratings can be supplied in several configurations:

  • On civil engineering structure: direct mounting on concrete slab.
  • On walkway with suspended motor.
  • On walkway with motor mounted on support frame.
  • Gear motor
    • Power: available from 3 kW to 45 kW, adapted to the specific requirements of the basins, small wastewater treatment plants or industrial installations. It can be vertical, with parallel shafts or horizontal depending on the configuration.
    • IE3 energy efficiency class.
    • IP55 protection.
    • Reinforced sealing: protected gearbox output shaft against water ingress, with double oil seals adapted to mechanical constraints and optimised lubrication for long service life.
  • Shaft
    • The shaft is manufactured from seamless P265GH steel with a specific surface treatment.
    • Length: variable from 1 m to 9.1 m, allowing precise adaptation to the basin dimensions.
    • Coupling flanges: machined directly by BIOTRADE from S275JR steel, designed to evenly distribute starting torque and limit deformation.
    • BIOTRADE brushes are also equipped with lateral deflectors to reduce side projections of effluent during operation.
  • Aeration blades
    • The blades are available in three materials depending on requirements:
    • Hot-dip galvanised steel.
    • 304L or 316L stainless steel.
    • Glass-fibre reinforced polyamide.
  • Coupling
    • Supports axial and radial loads via an injected polymer ball joint, ensuring smooth transmission of movement.
  • Bearings
    • The bearings are available in two versions:
      • Grease bearing with remote lubrication point for simplified maintenance.
      • Oil-bath bearing with splash lubrication, ensuring constant lubrication of the bearings.
  • Walkway
    • With integrated guardrails and anti-splash covers, upstream/downstream roof type, to reduce projections and noise emissions.

  • Strong French expertise with more than 21 years of experience.
High-performance aeration with ASB ≥ 1.8 kg O₂/kWh, up to 2 kg O₂/kWh in optimised channels.

Adaptable design with lengths from 1 m to 9.1 m and power ratings from 3 to 45 kW for all types of basins.

Durable installation: treated steel shaft and blades designed for optimal resistance.
Simplified maintenance thanks to remote lubrication points and easily accessible oil chambers.
Reduced nuisance thanks to lateral deflectors and anti-splash covers limiting projections and aerosols.
Versatility: three configurations available, civil engineering structure, suspended walkway, or motor mounted on support frame, for all site contexts.

  • Custom choice of materials.

Stainless steel baffle / deflector: increases aeration performance by 10 to 20% by optimising hydraulic flow.

  • 304L stainless steel feet for walkways installed at the bottom of the basin.

What is the difference between the PB700 and PB1000 ranges?

The PB700 range, from 3 to 11 kW with a 700 mm diameter, is suitable for small and medium-sized basins. The PB1000 range, from 11 to 45 kW with a 1,000 mm diameter, is designed for large industrial volumes or high-capacity wastewater treatment plants.

Why choose a brush aerator rather than another aeration system?

The brush aerator combines oxygenation by projection and horizontal mixing in a single unit. It provides ASB greater than or equal to 1.8 kg O₂/kWh and simplified maintenance compared with submerged systems.

What are the manufacturing lead times?

Manufacturing lead times are 10 to 12 weeks for civil engineering configurations, and 14 to 16 weeks for walkway-mounted configurations after drawing approval. The dimensional survey and technical study phase takes approximately 2 weeks on average.

Are walkways included in the price?

Yes, for brush aerators with suspended motor or motor mounted on support frame. For civil engineering brush aerators, the walkway must be quoted as an option.

What is the impact of the baffle on aeration performance?

A baffle provides a 10 to 20% improvement in aeration performance, which also helps reduce energy consumption.
