Presentation
The BIOTRADE disc filter is a tertiary treatment unit designed to remove suspended solids (SS) from treated wastewater.
It consists of a series of horizontally mounted, rotating filter discs. Each disc is made up of fan-shaped filter panels fitted with removable polyester filter cloth.
The filtration mesh size can be as fine as 10 µm, enabling the high-precision filtration required for wastewater treatment plant upgrades, treated water reuse projects, or the reduction of suspended solids in the final effluent.
The system is distinguished by a compact structure, simple operation, a small footprint, and low energy consumption.
Functioning
Raw water enters the central drum through an opening at the end of the unit and then distributes into the filter discs via connecting ports.
The water then passes through the filter media from the inside out. Suspended solids are retained by the filter fabric, while the filtered water is discharged.
As filtration proceeds, impurities accumulate on the fabric. When the water level reaches a preset value, the drum begins to rotate and the backwash system activates automatically.
Pressurized water then cleans the surface of the filter discs. The dislodged impurities fall into the sludge collection trough and are subsequently discharged through the drain line.
